For healthy cast iron cooking, you must season your cast iron pans well. It is advisable to coat the interior and exterior of the pan with vegetable oil before heating it in the oven for at least one hour. You may do this several times before using. This allows the pans to become stick-resistant; otherwise, it might rust every time it is washed. When cleaning, this has to be washed with detergent and must not be scrubbed in order not to ruin the seasoning.
A sizzling drop of water on the pan indicates that one can start cooking. Usually, medium heat is needed for optimal cooking standards. These pans may also be used on the stovetop or inside the oven. Cooking with cast iron also adds a little bit of flavour to your food because of the iron, which is not bad.
